What a year 2019 has been.

In January, Dr Greg and Dr Donne attended another two paediatric seminars (Joburg and Durban) with Dr Steve Williams on Pregnancy and Birth Trauma and Neonatal Examination, Spinal and Cranial Correction, Plagiocephaly and Neurobehavioral Disorders and Treatment of Common Paediatric Syndromes. Wow, what a mouthful!

In February at our annual New Year Braai, we said goodbye and good luck to Dr Donne as she ventured out on her own. We continue to have both a personal and professional relationship with Donne, you may have even seen her in the practice when she comes in with her hubby for their regular adjustments. She has also returned a couple of times to help look after you all while Dr Greg and Dr Thorn have been on leave.

March saw Dr Thorn join the Peak family. He returned to South Africa after spending almost 2 years in The Netherlands. It was also in March that Dr Greg was invited to speak at the Reforest Fest Family Weekend in the Platbos Forest. This weekend saw families camp together for the weekend, plant a new indigenous forest and connect with the planet through environmental workshops and events.

In June we celebrated our 7th birthday. We made this celebration the focus of our team event. Our team events are organised by two of us and the rest of the team only find out the day before! It keeps everyone in suspense and makes it even more special. The team were surprised by Greg and Rene who organized a gin and botanicals cocktail workshop with the wonderful team at Veld and Sea. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the video on our Facebook page. During July and August, Dr Greg and Eils travelled to Australia and Singapore to host and attend seminars. Greg hosted The Missing Link in Adelaide and the Sunshine Coast. The whole family attended The In8 Summit in Melbourne. Yes, the whole family. This Chiropractic seminars, along with many others worldwide, cater for Chiropractic families. The children are invited to be in the room with some seminars creating a family break away room with a live feed from the main stage showing on screens in the room. How cool is that!? They all went to the Advanced BioStructural Correction™ Australasia Convention in Singapore where Greg was also a featured speaker. ABC™ practitioners from all over the world met to brush up on their skills and connect with each other. Breah and Imogen had their roles to play alongside the convention MC’s.

September is Chiropractic’s birthday. Chiropractic was founded on 18 September 1895 by Daniel David (D.D.) Palmer in Davenport, Iowa.

Dr Greg and Dr Thorn attended the annual Chiropractic Association of South Africa Congress in Durban.

October was a busy month, we said goodbye to Rene and welcomed Robyn to the Front Desk Team. We also welcomed Dr Emmie and Dr Nick who returned to South Africa after spending a few years living, working and expanding their knowledge in The Netherlands. Taking place on 16 October every year, World Spine Day, organised by the World Federation for Chiropractors has become a focus on raising awareness of spinal health. This year’s theme was Move Your Spine and we arranged events with Michael Oak High School, Auburn House School and RisCura.

Saying Goodbye to Rene

In November, we opened our new consult rooms at number 22, directly opposite our current rooms. We will be installing our own high-tech X-Ray facilities in the new year which will allow us to serve you and the rest of our community better. Did you know that Chiropractors are trained and fully licensed to take and read their own X-Rays?

In December, We had an awesome time doing a scavenger hunt around the V&A Waterfront with The Gallivanting Goose followed by lunch at Gibson’s overlooking the harbour. Pictures and videos can be found on our social media channels.
